Facts about Panchayat Series that very few people know.
- The series Panchayat was originally going to be titled SDO Sahib. However, since the panchayat office played such a central role in the story, the name was eventually changed to Panchayat.
- The series was shot in a real panchayat office located in Mahodiya village, near Sehore district in Madhya Pradesh. The production team stayed in the village and used local homes and surroundings to maintain authenticity—no sets were built.
- The production team searched through 300 villages to find the perfect location for shooting. When they finally found the right village, there was no road leading to it, so they had to build one themselves.
- Despite being a major character (Manju Devi, the Pradhan), Neena Gupta had very limited screen time in Season 1. She shot most of her scenes in just 2–3 days because her character was written to reflect the symbolic role of a female sarpanch whose husband (played by Raghubir Yadav) actually runs the show.
